India DoT Telecom Authorisation Rules (June 24, 2026)

For satellite: GMPCS licences convert to authorisations; security compliance becomes a structural prerequisite embedded in the framework, not a one-time review. Implication: future regulatory bar for foreign satellite operators in India is now structurally higher than the 2025 framework that SES, OneWeb, and Starlink licensed under. Monitor DoT for implementing rules on satellite interception obligations — these will determine whether the Jio-SES MEO JV can be commercially cleared without restructuring its technical architecture.
