EU Parliament refers 2 GHz spectrum bill to committee

What happened

The European Parliament's ITRE committee received formal referral of the EU's 2 GHz mobile-satellite-service spectrum bill on September 14, opening first-reading work. Angelika Winzig (EPP) is lead rapporteur, with four shadow rapporteurs now named from the S&D, Patriots for Europe, ECR and Greens/EFA groups. No vote has been scheduled yet.

Read-across for SES

ITRE can now begin amendments to the three-way 2 GHz split: IRIS², an EU new entrant, and open commercial use. SES and Elveo are contesting that split against SpaceX's push for a single open 15 MHz block. The rapporteur and shadow lineup spans the EPP through the Greens, a sign the file has genuine cross-group attention rather than sitting parked.
