Impulse Space raises $308M, hits $5.4bn valuation
What happened
Impulse Space closed a $308 million extension to its Series D funding round on September 16, bringing the round to $808 million and its valuation to $5.4 billion. The round follows the company's Helios orbital-transfer vehicle winning a spot as the first upper-stage prime in the Space Force's NSSL Phase 3 Lane 1 program. It also follows a separate $28 million contract extension for two VICTUS SALO missions. Proceeds will fund vehicle production and headcount growth to meet government and commercial launch demand.
Read-across for SES
SES's meoSphere and IRIS² manifests compete for scarce non-SpaceX launch and orbital-transport capacity through 2029. A well-capitalized second entrant in that lane, alongside Rocket Lab and Stoke Space, is a small positive for SES's own manifest risk. Impulse's near-term government revenue does not touch SES directly.
As the brief filed it
