Poland's minister calls Starlink station fire sabotage

What happened

Poland's digital affairs minister, Krzysztof Gawkowski, said Thursday a fire at a Starlink ground station near Warsaw was deliberate sabotage meant to cut Ukraine's military internet access. The station, in Wola Krobowska and run by state-owned Exatel, kept working after the blaze damaged its power supply and a generator. Gawkowski called it part of Russia's "new doctrine of attack." Poland's special-services coordinator pushed back, saying it is too early to call it sabotage, with arson and an electrical fault both still under investigation.

Read-across for SES

SES operates ground infrastructure across Europe for government and defence customers, the same class of target Russia is now testing against Starlink. A confirmed pattern of hybrid attacks on satcom ground segments would sharpen the sovereign-resilience pitch behind IRIS² and SES's own government sales. It also raises the physical-security bar any operator serving Ukraine or NATO's eastern flank must clear.

As the brief filed it

[AGE: 6h] Poland's digital affairs minister called a fire at a Starlink ground station near Warsaw deliberate sabotage tied to Russia's hybrid-war doctrine against Ukraine's supply lines. Poland's own special-services office called that premature.
