Rocket Lab Signs Record 20-Launch Synspective Deal
What happened
Rocket Lab signed its largest-ever commercial Electron contract Sept. 30, booking 20 more dedicated launches for Synspective's StriX radar-satellite constellation from 2028 through 2031. The deal brings Synspective's total to 47 Electron missions, Rocket Lab's largest customer base, and pushes Rocket Lab's company-wide launch backlog above 100 missions. Financial terms were not disclosed. CEO Peter Beck called it a vote of confidence in Electron's cadence and reliability.
Read-across for SES
Dedicated launch capacity outside SpaceX is already a standing constraint on SES's own IRIS² and meoSphere manifests, which compete for the same scarce slots. Rocket Lab's backlog topping 100 missions, with Synspective alone booking 47, shows dedicated small-satellite launch slots filling fast. That tightens the queue SES's vendors must clear to hit their own 2029-2030 launch targets.
